Thor is a solution architect who has been a part of the inlumi Norway team since its inception in 2013. Together with team members Eva and Magdalena, he has successfully completed the implementation of OneStream at DNV. This is a hugely exciting project for two reasons: it is the first OneStream project in Norway and sees inlumi working alongside one of Norway’s most renowned organisations. Thor and Eva were thrown into the deep end but thanks to their tenacity, they successfully delivered a robust, tailor-made solution for the client. We interviewed Thor and Jonas to learn how the team delivered a successful project.

DNV is one of the world’s leading certification bodies, helping businesses assure the performance of their organisations, products, people, facilities and supply chains. They are also a world-leading provider of digital solutions for managing risk and improving safety and asset performance for ships, pipelines, processing plants, offshore structures, electric grids, smart cities and more.
The finance team at DNV were experiencing performance issues with their existing system. They needed a system that was built for the future, while being able to fulfil their need for a unified system which could perform account reconciliation, legal and year-end reporting, and financial planning and analysis.
OneStream was identified as the best solution to lead DNV into the future. As the only EPM consultancy which can offer OneStream expertise in Norway, the team at inlumi leveraged its partnership with OneStream to implement this solution. As the first OneStream implementation in Norway, this project didn’t come without its challenges. Facing limited resources, Thor, Eva and Magdalena quickly adapted to take responsibility for the project and ensure that the client was able to realise the full potential of the system. “I’m extremely proud of my team. It is clear that they are committed to making sure that the customer is happy and is able to see the value we can bring. In addition, we were able to demonstrate our value to our partner, OneStream,” says Jonas, Country Manager for the inlumi Norway team.

A combination of technical skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction was essential to making this project a success. The team was able to leverage their deep knowledge in EPM systems and translate that into the functional needs of the client. “Throughout the course of the project, we are constantly looking at what the system can do for the client. We aren’t happy until we have delivered a good solution. At the same time, we have to build trust given the scope of the project. Our colleagues were an especially important resource in building a strong relationship with the client to keep things running smoothly,” explains Thor.
The client is pleased with the outcome and now has a robust solution in which they are able to continue developing new solutions to meet their evolving business needs. “DNV GL went live with OneStream as a consolidation and (basic) planning tool according to plan in February 2020. The experience so far, both from a corporate view and end-user (business) point of view, is very positive. The tool is intuitive, relatively easy to maintain and the system performance is good. Everyone is really impressed with OneStream and we see it as a big improvement on the Excel packs from previous years. inlumi has been instrumental in the project phase leading up to go-live and continued the great support while we have been live. There is no doubt that they have played a vital role in making this project a success,” says Sigbjørn, Group Controller at DNV.
